Panormos

One of the three ancient cities of the island — the other two were Peparethus and Selinus. The ruins of this prosperous ancient city are preserved at the site of Palaeokastro or Agios Georgios in today's Panormos. The walls of the acropolis are impressive, with their meticulous masonry, standing over two meters high. Inside the acropolis, an amphora workshop was discovered, where vessels used for transporting the famous "Peparethian wine" were made. From the acropolis of ancient Panormos, a path leads to the Cave of Pan, a place where Pan, the goat-footed god of nature popular in antiquity, was worshiped.
