Monastery of the Archangels in Vatos

The Monastery of the Archangels in Vatos was founded by the Skopelite poet and monk Kaisarios Dapontes in 1761. The picturesque monastery, hidden among trees on the eastern slopes of Mount Palouki, with fresh water springs cooling it, offers visitors an ideal opportunity for hiking and discovering the island's rich monastic tradition.

The katholikon houses notable icons, including one of the Archangel Michael.

The monastery traditionally celebrates on November 8th, the Feast of the Archangels, but since other churches on the island also hold services on this day, the celebration and festival are held a few days later.
